My Roomies......

His target is IIMC and he is leaving no stone unturned to achieve it. (Reason: not because IIMC focuses on all-round personality development of an individual and has an edge over IIMA and IIMB but because he is mad about Bengali BeautiesJ). This irresistible force is driving him to focus on IIMC and I am sure one seat is already booked for him because where there is a will, there is a way.

Not only this, his Fantasy list includes decent Gujarati girls (Not to mention names), Pakistani Angels (Source: his India –Pakistan Friendship club on orkut), Brazilian hot babes (Source: censoredJ) etc. The list not ends here he has also become fan of Japanese skinny gals after his visit to Japan (Source: some of the pics revealed from his 10 megapixel camera).

Ok……..Jokes apart……………..

He is ready to play cricket but hates football because he is lazy enough to run behind football. Even in cricket, his trademark “Blue White INDIA T-shirt” gives an outsider a feel as if he is most serious of all present on the field. J

Ok………No more jokes………….

He gives an image of an introvert in the beginning. Yes he is. Does not entertain many. He is always a centre point (victim) of Santanu’s and Nishant’s jokes and he takes it positively (because he doesn’t have any other option). J J J

He prefers KING-size comfort over money. Anything less than 500 Rs is a CHANGE for him.

On serious note……….

The one quality which distinguishes him from others is his ability to say reality on the face. I have seen him couple of times saying hard facts with utmost guts which many people abstain from saying (thinking that it will hurt a receiver). Whatever responsibility he takes, he completes it with full dedication (Proof: His challenging role as a “Chappal” Coordinator).

Lastly, as confirmed by close source “he is a phenomenal cook”. We are eagerly waiting to get a taste of “Delicious Pulav”.

To be continued…………………………..

EXpress URself.......................!!!

Well Frnz, I just want to clarify one thing before I start that “I am not a preacher”. My way of writing sounds like as if I am an incarnated form of God and I am here to spread “Gyan”.

Well, don’t get me wrong.

Preaching is not my cup of tea or rather I will say I don’t want to foray into this new business. J

The clock is ticking 1:38 am. I have just finished watching “Coach Carter”, a true story of a basketball coach, an inspirational leader who strongly believes in an all-round personality development of bunch of undisciplined players.

Sorry, I am digressing myself slightly from what I am intending to write.

Let’s begin……………………………………………...........................................................

What I will discuss now will not be something new for you but, I am sure most of you might not have given it a due thought.

For last couple of weeks, I had been sharing one idea with my roommates. The idea of “Expressing oneself freely”.

Don’t you think you will feel freer if you will vent out what is there in your heart/mind??

Let’s say “your mentor has given you a piece of work which doesn’t excite you, then what will you do? Are you left with no option? Now let’s try this, go to him/her and say I don’t feel like doing this work. I will be happier to do some other piece of work. Do you think your mentor will impress upon you this task?? Most probable answer is “yes” but on contrary, he will explain you the advantages of the assigned work, which will open up the new dimensions for you and will help you understand the relevance of that work (which might not have occurred to you in your dreams also). Suppose if he says ok, my frnd, leave it, you choose and do whatever seems to excite you. Then you will direct your full energy in accomplishing this newly given task and probable outcome will be more satisfactory and heart pleasing for you as well as your mentor.”

The gist of this long and boring story is that “expressing oneself freely” is a win-win situation for everyone involved. From our perspective, it adds value to us, propels us to give our best and above all, makes us a better individual.

Let’s take one more example and I promise this story won’t be that much tiresome. ;)

“We are just frnz”, “Aisa kuch nhi hai yaar”, “Tum log bhi naa” etc are some stereotype statements which I keep on hearing from most of my frnz. Thinking for hours whether to write A/B/C in the msg (what he/she will feel if i will write A, no no B, oh no C), waiting whole night for mobile screen to blink (thinking that his/her reply thru msg is about to come) are regular attributes of this breed of people. Common, open your heart and reveal your true feelings. Let them flow. Don’t restrict. What will happen in the worst scenario ----he/she will leave you?? Your so called 200 years old friendship will come into danger?? No, dear. If he/she doesn’t understand your feelings what is the advantage of dragging that so called lifelong friendship? On the contrary, in dragging that relationship, you are missing those wonderful moments u could have shared with other friends.

Luckily I have tried out both the things and it has work reasonably good in my case. Also, there had been several instances in the past which has made me believe more strongly on “Expressing oneself freely”.

Frnz, I am sure everyone of you might be having several instances wherein you might have restricted yourself and repented later on. Lets move ahead and express freely.

One should be true to oneself

Finally “Results are out”. I am really glad to see the “Final Verdict” given by the Indians.

“CONGrats CONGress”.

Results have clearly indicated that one cannot befool Indians in the name of Religion, Caste or local/regional issues. They have realized that national issues will have long term impact on them.

So

Can we say that time has come for India to move on the path of reforms or to become a “Superpower”?

Think twice…………!!

One should not jump to conclusions right away.

The question here comes is: Are words like “India Shining “or “Superpower India “of any significance to the common man?  Is this going to bring about any change in the way he/she thinks or acts??”

To me, the answer is NO.

This is a fact that India’s future is prosperous but the amount of”prosperity” is dependent on the way Indians grab this opportunity with both hands. What I have seen is that the graph of “an individual’s growth” is inversely proportional to “India’s growth”.  In order to survive in the competition, they are selling their principles, they are selling their ethics and in short, they are selling themselves.

Recent incident strengthens above said belief. We, group of four friends, went to “fairly decent” restaurant for a lunch. I quoted “Fairly Decent” because what I learnt from this incident was that one should not have preconceived notion about anything. The moment we entered, the attendant offered us “Buffet” at 400 Rs + Taxes per head. He told that he will be serving “Wine, beer, mocktails (for non drinkers)” along with that.

Two of us had white wine and other two drank “Shikangi” L in the beginning. We were in the middle of our lunch then suddenly the same attendant (who offered us Buffet at 400 bucks) came to us and told us that “ Buffet with wine will cost you 790 Rs + Taxes”. It came as a surprise package for us. We told him that this is wrong as you initially quoted “400 Rs”.

We didn’t expect even in the wildest of our dreams that such “Fairly Decent” restaurant (which was full of craps) will spoil our mood in such a way. The truth is, in order to increase their headcounts, these “STUDS” keep on juggling with the words (and the worst part is that they think of this as their marketing capabilities).

One more interesting thing which I noticed was that that attendant (one more “STUD”) was finding it difficult to face us. He knew that he was wrong on his part but at the end of the day, his sole motto was to generate money. How selfish?? How unethical??

In the end we paid initial quoted amount only but deep down my heart, one question remains unanswered “Are we true to ourselves”?

I believe, this is high time when we should raise our standards, otherwise, words like India Shining, Superpower India are of little significance to us.
